Union County's nature and science center offers week-long summer camps for children ages 6-12 in the Watchung Reservation, with morning, afternoon, and full-day sessions featuring outdoor education, nature exploration, and hands-on activities.
Trailside Nature & Science Center runs summer camps at the Watchung Reservation, a 2,065-acre preserve with woodlands, streams, and trails. Campers ages 6-12 can choose morning, afternoon, or full-day sessions during summer weeks. Programs focus on outdoor education and natural world exploration, with camp themes including nature discovery, animal study, Native American history, and imaginary forest exploration. The center houses interactive exhibits, classrooms overlooking the reservation, and a children's discovery room. Registration for county residents opens March 7 and for out-of-county residents on March 9. Refunds are given through June 12 with a $35 per session non-refundable registration fee.
