Teatown Natural Science Summer Day Camp

Teatown's Natural Science Summer Day Camp brings children outdoors to learn about and explore the natural world across the organization's 1,000-acre preserve. The camp runs four two-week sessions from late June through mid-August, with age-specific groups: Discoverers (Pre-K–K) engage in sensory activities and nature walks; Trekkers (grades 1–2) explore forests, fields, and streams; Bushmasters (grades 3–4) investigate food webs and habitats; Junior Naturalists (grades 5–7) trek to adjacent county parks and use technology for navigation; Nature Girls (grades 3–7) focus on leadership and teamship; and Explorers (grades 8–9) pursue advanced nature study. Each session has a themed focus such as Animal Behavior, Homes and Habitats, Sensory Awareness, or Adaptation. The camp's mission is to provide a non-competitive environment where children learn through exploration and discovery, develop a sense of place in nature, and foster environmental responsibility.
