A three-week summer chamber music program for string players at two skill levels, with beginner and intermediate-advanced courses culminating in recital performances. Students learn ensemble playing, chamber music history, and technique while building musicianship through small group ensembles. Also runs: Summer Strings Methods Camp.
Grace Music School offers two parallel three-week Summer Strings Chamber courses during July and early August. The beginner course (NYSSMA levels 1-2) introduces early stages of ensemble playing with emphasis on group listening skills, instrumental tone blending, and basic ensemble techniques. The intermediate-advanced course (NYSSMA levels 3-6) covers chamber music performance fundamentals and genre history. Both courses meet Monday through Friday for one hour daily, with students performing in a recital on the final day. Dr. P, who holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and has extensive coaching experience, facilitates the program.
