A six-and-a-half-week summer residential program for ages 14-19 from the Greater Boston area combining community building, political education in racial and gender justice, and youth-led action projects for social change.
The Summer Leadership Program (SLP) has been running since 1995 and serves approximately 60 diverse teenagers each summer. The program begins with a three-day retreat focused on exploring identity, power, and privilege, then continues with five weeks of intensive learning around racial justice, economic justice, gender justice, queer justice, and disability justice. Participants engage in youth-led popular education, community action projects, and affinity groups organized by race, gender, and sexual orientation. The program includes assemblies, workshops, and concludes with youth-led presentations and a graduation celebration.
