A summer learning program for students entering grades 1-8 that combines academic instruction in literacy and mathematics with enrichment activities including STEAM, field trips, and life skills programming. The program helps students maintain academic skills during the summer break while exploring new interests.
Summer Journey is Catapult Learning's summer learning program offered through a partnership with the Superintendent of Schools Office of the Archdiocese of New York. At St. Charles Borromeo School in Harlem, more than 230 students participate in classes designed to strengthen academic skills and prevent summer learning loss. The program includes targeted instruction in phonics and mathematics for elementary students, interactive marine biology lessons for kindergarteners, and mathematics support for middle school students. Enrichment experiences incorporate STEAM activities and EmpowerU programming focused on resilience and life skills. Eligible students participating across the Archdiocese increase their academic proficiency by an average of five points. The program is supported through federal Title program funds.
