A six-week paid summer internship for high school juniors and seniors and college freshmen and sophomores offering hands-on experience in hospitals and healthcare facilities across New York City, with weekly workshops on health careers and community health issues.
SHIP provides high school and college students with exposure to various healthcare settings, professionals, and career paths through paid internship placements. Students participate in hands-on clinical experiences at hospitals and health care facilities, attend weekly didactic sessions covering community health issues and health equity, tour health professions schools, and meet practicing healthcare professionals. The program emphasizes leadership development, teamwork, and cultural competence while introducing students to diverse healthcare careers.
