A multi-week summer program for teens who love to write, held at Drew University in New Jersey. Students work with published authors, choose from different writing genres each week, develop their voices through workshops and creative exercises, receive peer and instructor feedback, and have the opportunity to publish their work in The Writers Circle's journal.
The Summer Creative Writing Intensives are The Writers Circle's premiere program for passionate teen writers. Held at Drew University in Madison, NJ, the program runs three one-week sessions (tentatively July 12-16, July 19-23, and July 26-30 in 2027). Each day runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with students choosing two different genres to focus on each week from options including Elements of Fiction, Poetry, and others that vary year to year. The schedule includes writing warm-ups, two author-led workshops, free writing with editorial conferences, group literary activities, and a student reading on Friday. Students work on personal writing projects, receive constructive feedback from professional author-instructors and peers, and can submit work for publication in The Writers Circle's online journal. The program emphasizes developing individual voices in a supportive, creative community of like-minded young writers.
