Rocking the Boat Summer Day Camp

Rocking the Boat's summer day camp is based at Hunts Point on the Bronx River, where campers build community and develop confidence through on-water adventures. Young people learn to row together as a team aboard student-built wooden boats while exploring the river's plants, animals, and ecosystems. Activities include team rowing and boating skills, environmental science investigations, wildlife observation, water quality testing, woodworking projects, outdoor games, and art activities. Safety is central to the program: campers wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets on or near the water, and no prior rowing or swimming experience is required. The camp welcomes children of all swimming abilities and emphasizes curiosity, teamwork, leadership, and connection to the natural environment.
