A tuition-free summer research program at Rutgers where high school and undergraduate students work hands-on in biomedical science laboratories, participate in research teams, and learn scientific methodology under faculty mentorship.
The RITMS Summer Research Program offers high school students an 8-week program (mid-June to mid-August) and undergraduate students a 12-week program (mid-May to mid-August) to perform hands-on translational research. Participants are placed with professional scientists and faculty mentors at Rutgers, where they participate in experiment planning, conduct laboratory work, analyze data, and present their findings. The program helps high school students explore science careers and strengthen college applications, while providing undergraduate students valuable research experience for graduate and medical school applications. Mentorship from professional scientists, students, and faculty is a core component.
