See if kids you know are going to this camp.
A four-day day camp at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve where children in grades 3-6 experience pioneer life on the prairie through hands-on activities including games, crafts, gardening, cooking, farm chores, and time in a one-room schoolhouse.
Pioneer Day Camp invites children to journey back in time and explore the daily pleasures and challenges of pioneer life in the 1800s. The camp is held at the Durant-Peterson House and Sholes School historic site within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve. Campers participate in pioneer games and crafts, gardening, food gathering and preparation, cooking, farm chores, creek visits, and lessons in the restored one-room Sholes School. The program is led by museum staff and volunteers who create immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Scholarships are available to families regardless of income.
