PAL's Summer Day Camp at the New South Bronx Center provides enrichment and learning experiences crucial to academic success and positive youth development. Over seven weeks, children engage in a rotating schedule of academic enrichment, arts learning, and physical fitness activities including team sports and tournaments. The program features frequent field trips and special events that introduce campers to youth from other communities and cultural resources throughout the city. The camp kicks off with an annual Carnival and culminates in Culture Day, a project-based learning experience where children present what they learned about the summer's citywide educational theme. Participants benefit from increased physical activity, engagement in the arts, decreased summer learning loss, improved communication skills and self-esteem.
