A free summer day camp for children ages 5-13 in Jamaica, Queens, featuring academic enrichment, arts learning, physical fitness activities, sports instruction, field trips and special events over seven weeks.
PAL's Summer Day Camp at the Edward Byrne Center provides free summer enrichment for children in South Jamaica. Operating Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm over seven weeks, the camp offers a revolving schedule of academic enrichment, arts learning, and physical fitness activities including team-based athletic tournaments and sports fundamentals instruction. The camp includes frequent field trips, special events, and culminates in Culture Day, a project-based learning experience. Participants benefit from increased physical activity, arts engagement, decreased summer learning loss, improved communication skills and self-esteem.
