Nelly Berman School of Music Summer Camp

The Nelly Berman School of Music runs a Music and Art Through the Eras summer camp in July. Mornings feature music history classes with Dr. Ariane Alexander and art history instruction, coordinating composers with visual artists from the same periods. Students study composers from the Romantic period through the early twentieth century and painters including Impressionist and modern artists, deepening their understanding of artistic expression across eras. Afternoons include supervised practice time on assigned pieces and optional chamber ensemble coaching for advanced students. Breaks include ice cream, outdoor games like capture the flag, and movies during lunch. Friday features a quiz game styled like musical Jeopardy and a concert where parents hear their children perform newly learned works. Individual lessons are available as part of the summer semester to support students preparing for the concert. The camp serves two age groups: 7–10 years and 11–18 years.
