Merit School of Music's summer day camps offer week-long and two-week sessions for children ages 6-16, featuring music discovery, instrument-specific intensives, and ensemble tracks in band, choir, and orchestra led by experienced faculty.
The Nancy W. Knowles Summer Camp Program provides summer music education through multiple camp options. Music Discovery Camp serves ages 6-8 with exploration of various instruments including piano and percussion. Camp Merit (ages 8-16) runs for two weeks with campers selecting a track in Band, Choir, or Orchestra, plus electives such as African Drumming and Conducting, with the Choir Track open to beginners. Instrument-specific week-long camps include Clarinet, Flute, Horn, Piano, Trombone, Trumpet, and Tuba & Euphonium, featuring large group rehearsals, chamber music, and visits from special guest artists. All camps are beginner-friendly and led by Merit's renowned music faculty from across the Chicago region.
