A day camp for children entering grades 2–5 that combines STEAM activities with history learning, featuring field trips to local museums, outdoor playtime, and hands-on projects exploring United States history and the museum's collections.
Museum Explorers Camp is designed for children entering grades 2–5 who engage in a variety of STEAM activities with emphasis on learning, cooperation, fun, and creativity. The camp features daily lesson plans with age-appropriate activities, scheduled outdoor playtime, special presentations, and visits to other museums in the area. Campers learn about United States history in honor of the country's 250th anniversary, explore the museum's "History of Her: Women Who Shaped Chicagoland" exhibit, visit the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art to learn about fossils, tour Fischer Farm and the Churchville One-Room Schoolhouse, and construct their own museum exhibitions. The camp is managed by experienced museum staff with trained assistants and is limited to 20 participants per session.
