A forest-based day camp in South Mountain Reservation for ages 3-9, where children explore nature through outdoor play, scientific observation, hiking, and creative activities across two age-grouped programs running Monday through Thursday in summer.
Maplewood Outside School runs two summer camp programmes in the forests of South Mountain Reservation. The Bluebird program serves ages 3-5.5 years old and runs from 9 am to 1 pm, offering storytelling, outdoor exploration, art activities, and circle time. The Sparrow program for ages 6-9 runs from 9 am to 3 pm and emphasizes adventure, wildlife tracking, hiking up to three miles per day, and scientific exploration. Both programs operate Monday through Thursday during summer 2026, with Bluebirds running June 8 through August 6 at $335 per week, and Sparrows running June 22 through July 30 at $475 per week. Children must be able to separate from caregivers and be potty trained for Bluebirds; Sparrows campers should be able to hike up to three miles daily.
