A three-week intensive ballet camp held in August for ages 8-20, featuring daily technique classes, pointe, variations, character, contemporary, jazz, and modern dance, taught by Manhattan Youth Ballet faculty and guest instructors from New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater, culminating in a performance.
Manhattan Youth Ballet's Summer Intensive runs August 3-21 (Monday-Friday) and serves dancers ages 8-20. Participants take daily technique classes from the year-round faculty and guest instructors, followed by pointe classes, variations classes, men's classes, character, pilates, contemporary, jazz, and modern dance. Three-week students participate in a 90-minute choreography session each day where faculty members create pieces for each level and work on classical and Balanchine repertory. The intensive concludes with a performance at MYB's theater. Students may enroll for 1, 2, or all 3 weeks; participation in all 3 weeks is required to perform. One and two-week participants may learn choreography as understudies.
