A summer day camp where children ages 9 and up learn cartooning and illustration from professional artists, with weekly sessions covering character design, sequential storytelling, penciling, inking, and color illustration.
The Joe Kubert School offers weekly summer sessions in July and August for children ages 9 and up. Each week focuses on a different cartooning skill: Week 1 covers character design and creating manga or superhero characters; Week 2 teaches sequential storytelling and how to tell stories through pictures; Week 3 covers penciling and inking techniques for comics; and Week 4 explores both traditional and digital color illustration methods. Classes run Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm. The school welcomes both beginners and experienced young artists. Registration includes a free art kit and t-shirt.
