For over 35 years, this six-week summer day camp serves children ages 6-13 with thematic arts and enrichment programming, including meals, leadership development, and recreational activities.
Ironbound Summer Arts & Recreation (ISA&R) operates five days a week from 8am to 5pm at the Ironbound Community Center, serving 80 youth ages 6-13. The program provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks, with the core day running from 9am to 3pm. Thematic learning is delivered through the arts, social sciences, and experiential learning activities, with past themes including global cultures, visioning the future of Ironbound, and riverfront parks planning. The program has documented success in closing the summer learning gap, broadening youth horizons, strengthening literacy and language arts, fostering arts appreciation, and developing self-esteem and leadership qualities. Teen staff and interns ages 16-21 also participate, gaining work readiness skills and leadership development.
