A week-long summer leadership camp for girls in grades 4-10 that builds confidence and leadership skills through hands-on activities, team challenges, mentorship, and reflection. Participants develop communication, social-emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, and cultural competence while working with peers and adult mentors.
The Girls' Leadership Institute at Kent Place School runs three summer programs for rising fourth through tenth graders. GLI Primary (grades 4-5) emphasizes relationship-building and resilience through activities like mini-golf design challenges and diversity exercises. GLI Middle offers two sessions for grades 6-8, focusing on character development and identifying personal values through team-building and outdoor challenges. GLI Upper (grades 9-10) provides deeper immersion with case studies, outdoor ventures, and real-world leadership scenarios. All programs run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and include daily reflection through journaling, culminating in a presentation where each girl showcases her developed skills. High school and college mentors guide participants, and adult women leaders share their professional and personal paths. The program has served over 700 alumnae across 30 years.
