GCTYO Summer Music Festival

GCTYO Summer Music Festival offers 10 full days of music instruction during the summer. The camp is open to all young musicians, whether or not they are already GCTYO members, with at least one year of instrument experience (except steel pan, which requires no prior experience). Participants are placed in one of two orchestra levels—Beginner/Intermediate or Advanced—or in the Wind Ensemble or Steel Pan ensemble based on an audition (audition not required for steel pan). The camp includes daily sectionals, electives such as chamber music, conducting, composition, jazz and improv, fiddling, ear training, and leadership workshops. A guest artist visit, art activities, and a final concert are included. The repertoire spans traditional and classical music, works by diverse composers, and alternative genres including fiddling and film music.
