A weeklong summer service trip for high school students that combines community service projects with learning about social justice issues across different regions of the United States, including disaster relief, civil rights history, immigration, and education.
Foundations Youth Ministry, part of Old St. Pat's parish, offers Worktour, a weeklong summer service trip for high school students. Over eight summers, teens have traveled across the nation to clean, repair, and rejuvenate communities while exploring pressing social justice issues. Past trips have included disaster relief in Oklahoma and New Orleans, civil rights study in Birmingham, Alabama, immigration issues near the Texas border, and education system examination in Washington, D.C. The program also includes regular Sunday meetings during the school year, retreats, and local service opportunities with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Misericordia, and The Night Ministry. Fundraising through pancake breakfasts and workdays helps support the summer trips.
