Week-long day camps for children ages 7-12 held at the Fairfield Museum, with rotating themes including archaeology, history, innovation, and spy training that combine hands-on activities, gallery exploration, and outdoor play on the Museum Commons.
The Fairfield Museum and History Center offers summer day camps designed for children ages 7-12, running Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Each week features a different theme inspired by the museum's collections and exhibitions. Camp offerings include Spy Camp (learning codes, invisible ink, and escape techniques inspired by the local Culper Spy Ring), Innovation Camp (exploring the design process and STEAM learning), Archaeology Camp (participating in digs and learning to analyze artifacts from the museum's collection), and History Camp themed around specific periods like the 1976 Bicentennial. Activities include art-making, scavenger hunts, craft projects like macramé and tie-dye, colonial skills such as quill writing and candle-making, and exploration of the historic c. 1780 Sun Tavern. Campers must be completing grades 1-5 and at least 7 years old. The museum provides detailed policies on nut-free meals, appropriate footwear, and weather protection.
