A week-long introductory rowing camp for 5th-12th graders held in August at McCullom Lake in McHenry, Illinois. Campers learn sweep rowing and sculling, practice on the water, train for fitness, and review water safety with experienced instructors.
Discover Rowing Summer Camp is a comprehensive introduction to rowing for middle and high school students entering grades 5-12. The one-week camp covers the basics of rowing, including two different rowing styles (sweep rowing and sculling), hands-on experience with boats and oars, fitness training, and water safety. No prior rowing experience is necessary. Camp runs rain or shine, with sessions held at Sweeps & Sculls Learn to Row Center on McCullom Lake in McHenry, weather permitting. The camp is offered in cooperation with McHenry County College and also partners with Lake Zurich Recreation Department, McHenry Recreation Department, Cary Park District, and Woodstock Recreation Department for registration.
