An extended school year summer program for students in grades 3–12 that combines academic review and skill-building with recreational activities, field trips and social-emotional support. The program runs Monday through Friday with separate tracks for elementary/middle and high school students.
Dearborn Academy's summer program serves students who benefit from therapeutic and academic support during the extended school year. The program runs Monday through Thursday, 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with a student-to-staff ratio of less than 4:1. Each day includes breakfast and lunch, a consistent schedule with academic and activity-based experiences, and daily field trips. Students participate in executive functioning, literacy and math skill review, and have opportunities for arts and crafts, computer instruction, sports and drama. High school juniors and seniors work on college admission essays, and high school students can attend college visits and volunteer locally. Elementary and middle school field trips include the beach, bowling and the Freedom Trail. The program is designed to prevent regression, provide positive social experiences and adventures, and help students learn new skills.
