Dance Theatre of Harlem's summer intensives offer ballet, modern, and world dance training for ages 8–24 across two sessions in July and August. Session 1 serves beginning ballet students ages 8–11, while Session 2 accommodates intermediate to advanced dancers ages 8–24 with options for one, two, or three weeks of training.
The Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Intensives provide immersive dance training rooted in the organization's legacy of making ballet accessible to students worldwide. Session 1 (July 6–16) is designed for ages 8–11 just beginning ballet, featuring ballet, modern, rehearsal, and history classes, with a culminating family event. Session 2 (July 19–Aug 6) serves ages 8–24 with at least two years of foundational ballet training, offering advanced instruction in ballet, pointe, men's technique, variations, partnering, modern, jazz, West African dance, and yoga, with weekly family showcases. Dancers may audition in person at tour stops across the United States and the Bahamas, or submit video auditions. The program operates within a safe, nurturing, and diverse environment aligned with Dance Theatre of Harlem's mission of empowerment through the arts.
