A day camp in Long Island City for ages 4–10 running 10 weeks from late June through early September, featuring dance technique in ballet, hip-hop and jazz, creative movement, storytelling, crafts, outdoor play, and weekly Friday performances. Campers ages 7–12 also participate in choreography workshops and meet professional guest artists. Also runs: Dance Matters Winter Break Camp, Dance Matters Spring Break Camp, Dance Matters Summer Intensive.
Dance Matters Summer Camp offers immersive arts programming across three age groups. Youngest campers (ages 4–6) explore imagination through ballet, hip-hop and creative movement, with daily story time and crafts inspired by ballet and musical theater stories. Children ages 7–12 deepen their dance technique while creating choreography and designing sets and costumes around weekly themes, mentored by visiting professional dancers. All campers enjoy daily outdoor play and showcase their work in Friday performances. The camp runs full days from 9 am to 3 pm, with optional extended care until 5 pm Monday–Thursday. Snacks and a free camp t-shirt are provided; campers bring lunch and water.
