A six-week summer program divided into two three-week sessions for neurodivergent students and those with mild to moderate cognitive or developmental disabilities. The academy combines thematic academic learning in reading, writing, and math with integrated services like speech therapy, counseling, and occupational therapy, plus community inclusion activities and extracurricular programming.
The Cooke Summer Academy reinforces students' academic and social skills through multi-sensory, thematic-based learning. Students are grouped by learning profiles and receive integrated related services including speech therapy, counseling, and occupational therapy through individual sessions, small groups, and classroom push-in support. The program incorporates community inclusion through travel training, service projects, and off-site education. Extracurricular activities include yoga, drumming, cooking, arts and crafts, chess, board games, technology, basketball, and trips to parks, museums, and cultural sites in New York City. High school students receive vocational and travel training with opportunities to explore job clusters and hear from alumni working in various fields.
