A two- or four-week atelier-method drawing workshop in Marblehead for ages 14 and older, teaching foundational techniques including Bargue drawing, cast drawing, and classical realism through daily instruction in proportion, form, and composition. Jonathan Sherman's Classical Drawing Workshop offers serious artists of all levels intensive instruction in foundational drawing skills using the sight-size technique and atelier method. Students complete two-dimensional Bargue drawings before advancing to cast drawing from life, covering proportions, tonal values, chiaroscuro, form, composition, and the use of pencil, charcoal, and various papers. Full-day students work on separate morning and afternoon drawings over two or four weeks. The studio is a 1,600 square foot space in a historic 1880 building with north-facing windows in central Marblehead, near parks, cafés, and restaurants.
