The Chinatown YMCA offers two summer day camp programs for children ages 5-11: a traditional camp with activities in sports, arts, crafts, and science, and a Chinese language immersion camp that combines daily Mandarin lessons with cultural field trips around NYC, both running in two-week sessions from late June through mid-August.
Traditional Summer Camp focuses on building social and emotional skills through physical fitness, arts and crafts, science activities, and theme days, grounded in the YMCA's core values of respect, caring, honesty, and responsibility. All campers participate in instructional swim. The Chinese Language Immersion Camp offers rigorous language acquisition blended with hands-on activities, including daily Chinese lessons and cultural field trips throughout New York City. Both camps operate from 9 am to 5 pm, with extended care from 8-9 am and 5-6 pm available. Campers participate in group play, team building, and classroom structure in a fun and inclusive environment. The Chinatown location is designated as a Lisa Beth Gerstman Inclusion Camp.
