Children's Orchestra Society

Children's Orchestra Society uses a unique method where children at every musical level play together in the same ensemble, with parts written to match each student's ability. The program runs one Saturday per week with orchestras (Pre-Kinder, Kinder, Sinfonia, Junior Symphonic, and Young Symphonic), chamber music groups, an Elite String Ensemble, Wind Symphonic and Percussion ensembles, and musicianship training. All ensembles perform twice yearly at winter and spring concerts. The Young Symphonic Ensemble performs annually at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Children ages 3 and up are placed through an audition process designed to assess their level and learning style, not to exclude them. The program has operated since 1962 and accepts families from across New York, New Jersey, and the Hudson Valley.
