A week-long day camp in Cortlandt Manor where children learn horsemanship through hands-on instruction in horse care, grooming, tacking, riding, and bareback techniques, with additional arts and crafts, games, and nature walks.
Chicory Meadow Farm's summer camp immerses children in a child-based horsemanship program. Campers learn to catch, lead and handle horses, groom and tack them, ride at various levels including bareback, and care for horses after work. The curriculum covers general horse knowledge including feeding, first aid, bathing, clipping, breed identification, and markings. Each day runs from 8:30am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday, with additional activities like arts and crafts, picnics, games, and informative nature walks. The farm is a 28-acre facility in the Hudson Highlands with indoor and outdoor arenas, cross-country fields, and trail access.
