An eight-week arts and science day camp for children entering grades K-9, held at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton. Campers participate in theater, filmmaking, music, culinary arts, science, sports, and swimming, with age-appropriate programming in three divisions and a culminating musical theater production.
Camp Kaleidoscope runs for eight consecutive weeks from June 29–August 21, with regular hours from 9am–4pm and extended-day options until 6pm. The camp divides into three age groups: Nitzanim (Lower Camp, grades K-1), Anafim (Middle Camp, grades 2-3), and Etsim (Upper Camp, grades 4-8), plus a Counselors in Training program for grade 9. Each division offers a mix of performing arts, visual arts, sports, and science activities. Campers in grades 2-8 can select electives including theater, cooking, 3D printing, photography, and video production. A highlight is the fully-staged musical theater production in weeks 4 and 8, where participating campers perform both shows. All campers receive daily instructional swim from certified instructors at the JCC's Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy (grades K-6) or have the option for swim instruction (grades 7-8). Campers celebrate Shabbat every Friday and enjoy theme days throughout the summer. The camp emphasizes a pluralistic Jewish setting and welcomes all backgrounds and faiths.
