A sleepaway camp on Squam Lake in New Hampshire's White Mountains serving 300+ Boston youth ages 5-17 each summer. Campers develop leadership and social skills through outdoor activities including swimming, archery, hiking, canoeing, and arts, with sliding-scale pricing and transportation from Boston.
Camp Hale has served Boston children for over 125 years, providing overnight sessions from 1 to 4 weeks during summer. The camp accommodates diverse groups including boys-only, girls-only, all-gender, and family sessions, with counselor-to-camper ratio of 1:7. Programming emphasizes outdoor education, water safety with 2-4 swim sessions daily, leadership development, and creative arts. The camp is screen-free and serves 74% low-income families and 80% children identifying as BIPOC. Family Camp offers 4-day all-inclusive packages with meals and lodging in cabins or lodge. Leadership programs for ages 15-17 include Leader in Training (4 weeks) and Counselor in Training (4 weeks) positions.
