A three-week entrepreneurship bootcamp at Barnard College where rising high school students develop business ideas, learn startup skills through workshops on financing and branding, and pitch ventures to peers with mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs. Also runs: NextGen Leadership Institute, Health and Society Institute, Plate + Planet Lab.
The Athena Summer Innovation Institute (June 29–July 17, 2026) takes an intensive, experiential approach to entrepreneurship, encouraging students to create startups, nonprofits, or advocacy campaigns. Students attend classes on product development, customer research, marketing, and startup finances; work in teams on venture projects; meet with a Mentor-in-Residence; and visit successful companies. The program culminates in a Pitchfest where teams present their ideas. Students benefit from coaching and workshops on public speaking delivered by Barnard's Speaking Fellows.
