Artward Bound is a free, four-year college preparation program for Greater Boston-area high school students interested in pursuing art and design education. Students participate in year-round art classes, career workshops, academic support, museum visits, artist studio visits, and creative tutoring.
Artward Bound is a unique college prep program for high school students passionate about art and design. The program is free and serves students in grades 9-11 from the Greater Boston area with household income at or below 80% of the area median income. Over four years, students explore visual art disciplines including illustration, fashion design, painting, and fibers while developing skills and understanding how creative expression impacts their lives, families, and communities. The program includes year-round classes on the MassArt campus, academic tutoring, career workshops, visits to museums and artist studios, MBTA passes for transportation, financial stipends for students in good standing, and the opportunity to earn college credit after completing a full year. Students attend Boston Public Schools (with certain exceptions) are given top priority, followed by other Boston residents.
